Community Involvement
I thrive on using my organizational, facilitation, and collaboration skills to make a difference through building the sense of community, bringing peacefulness to this time we exist on this earth. Here are a few examples.Longs Peak Networking www.LongsPeakNet.org

Trails at Vista Bonita HOA
President of the board of directors
Facilitator - hiway 14 safety coalition. I assembled a group of local community leaders, HOA presidents, Poudre school district transportation managers, real-estate developers, state hiway and Larimer County road engineers, Colorado State Patrol, and the county commissioner to develop a short-term and a long-term plan for improving the safety of the 1 mile section of hiway 14 east of I-25. The short-term plan has been completed and the rate of serious accidents. The long-term plan has completed the traffic light speed study and engineering study for the intersection causing the greatest problem. I guided this collaborative effort, including "town hall" educational meetings with local residents.
Trail maintenance for Forest Service
Clear deadfall, create water breaks, build and maintain footbridges on the trails along Miller Fork, Signal Mountain, and Donner Pass.
Fort Collins Discovery Center
Founding member. 14 years after founding the Discovery Center with 6 other like-minded people on a shoestring budget who believe in hands-on learning, the Discovery Center has now gained widespread community support. It recently was awarded a 2M$ grant for a new state-of-the-art building that will make it one of the top 5 hands-on Science Centers in the world. I love to go in and watch people of all ages learn (without necessarily knowing that they are learning important physics, math, and astronomy concepts), some on exhibits I've built.
United Way
Volunteer Project Manager. Twice a year I coordinate projects for United Way, and have done so for 14 years. We've done painting, household repair, and landscaping with teams assembled both from HP and also the general public. This past October's project was for the Matthews House. I coordinating 24 volunteers over 3 days to paint, complete a shed, and put in some gardens and other landscaping improvements. It's a great team-building activity for workgroups.
